About

My name is Zachary Stewart and I'm a guitarist, composer, and music educator from Seattle, WA. I put this blog together because I want to reach guitarists of various levels of experience and share some ideas and approaches that may be useful in terms of opening up some possibilities on the guitar. Some of the exercises herein will focus on basics (learning notes on your strings, triads, etc) and others can be more advanced harmonic and melodic approaches for people who have a good working grasp of guitar and music theory. I will be continuously posting more exercises on each subject as well as adding new subject matter to fold as we move forward. I'm going to refrain from using or suggesting any specific genre or styles in this blog as much as possible. All of this should really be about YOUR style.

The potential for internalizing these concepts and making them part of your creative process relies on you continuously playing through the material, studying it, and understanding the logic behind it. I'm leaving it up to you to ask the question "What is this all for?" and answer it on your own. Your curiosity, creativity, and your investigations will lead you to any answers and hopefully more questions.

All posts can be accessed in the "Tutorials" tab near the top of the page or in the blog feed.
